Trillion to begin construction on largest wireless WAN network in Texas
Mt. Pleasant , TX and Austin, TX – December 14, 2004 – The Northeast Texas Regional Education Telecom Network Agency (NTRETN) announced today that it has received funding commitment of over $1 Million from the Federal E-Rate program to provide high speed wireless WAN network services.
Trillion, the leading provider of wireless broadband services for education, based in Austin, Texas, will construct and manage the largest high-speed wireless broadband network in Texas for 81 sites encompassing 46 school districts.
The hybrid network will provide up to 100 Mbps providing a minimum of 15 times the bandwidth NTRETN is delivering to schools today. Trillion will also provide an integrated suite of services including firewall, DNS, and email as part of the managed service.
"The new Trillion wireless WAN network will address the growing bandwidth needs of school districts in our region and provide scalability for future needs,” said David Mabe, Deputy Executive Director. “The network will provide all our schools with additional bandwidth to deliver needed services to students and administrators. By managing our network, Trillion will free technical resources from NTRETN to focus on other needed services to our school districts.”
“We are pleased to provide this high-speed wireless WAN managed service for the NTRETN” said Bear Poth, President and CEO of Trillion. “When completed, this network, the largest wireless WAN in the state of Texas, will provide the NTRETN with unprecedented bandwidth to deliver educational services to over 46 school districts.”
The Federal E-rate grant will fund 72% of the cost of the building of the network and yearly service. It is anticipated that the network will be installed and operational by end of summer 2005.
