Western Plains Library System Turns Up Wireless Network
Ribbon cutting ceremonies planned to celebrate commencement of services

AUSTIN, TEXAS and CLINTON, OK – September 13, 2005 – Western Plains Library System (WPLS) and Trillion, the leading provider of broadband network services for education and libraries, announce the commencement of high-speed broadband services and Internet access at all seven branch libraries in western Oklahoma.

The full duplex wireless broadband network connects all of the WPLS libraries, including Cheyenne’s Minnie R. Slief Library, Clinton Public Library, Cordell Public Library, Seiling Public Library, Sentinel Public Library, and Thomas’ Hazel Cross Library, plus the Bookmobile headquarters located in Clinton. Weatherford Public Library’s connection will follow in the next month. Trillion is providing additional network services including firewall, Trillion premier content filtering, DNS, Trillion email service and email virus and spam filtering services.

Trillion’s secure network services will enable WPLS to deliver rich-media resources to branch library communities in a secure environment. Additionally, the network will be monitored and managed 24 x 7 by Trillion to provide optimal uptime. It will free library staff to focus on supporting their local communities instead of worrying about maintaining their network.

Ribbon cutting ceremonies are planned at all WPLS library locations next week to celebrate the commencement of network services. Please contact Lisa Snider at (580) 323-0974 for information on times and locations

"Our new Trillion network allows us to provide our communities more media resources and easier Internet access in a much more secure environment,” said Jane Janzen, WPLS Executive Director.

“Trillion is pleased to be providing WPLS with a managed network service that delivers the unlimited resource access to communities across Northwest Oklahoma,” said Bear Poth, President and CEO of Trillion. “We look forward to supporting the network to meet the changing needs of the library system.”
